Immigration Associate Attorney

Our New Jersey Office is seeking an Immigration Associate, fluent in Spanish with 5+ years of experience to provide support to its legal team. We are seeking a highly motivated Associate with excellent skills to become a part of our growing team. The ideal candidate will be available for full-time work, but a part-time arrangement will be considered.

Responsibilities

The associate will be responsible for all aspects of clients’ matters including meeting with prospective clients, devising strategies, finalizing, and customizing immigration documents, drafting immigration and family pleadings, briefs, and motions, supervising and delegating work to paralegals and assistants, preparing for and attending immigration and family court hearings, and supervising applications.

Qualifications

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have 5+ years attorney experience in immigration

  • Active member of the State Bar

  • Fluent in Spanish

Experienced Professionals

Immigration Paralegal

The Paralegal will play a vital role in supporting lawyers by acting as the primary point of contact with clients. This arrangement allows the lawyer to focus on other essential tasks, while the paralegal effectively keeps the client informed about the progress of their case, except for matters requiring legal advice. The paralegal will be responsible for obtaining information from clients, a duty initially managed by the Intake Specialist, who provides the client with checklists, questionnaires, and completes FOIAs. Subsequently, the paralegal takes charge of gathering in-depth information, drafting declarations, and performing related tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, organize, and summarize relevant information for various cases.

  • Develop expertise in finding and evaluating pertinent information, ensuring everything is up-to-date.

  • Handle inquiry calls and emails from assigned clients.

  • Calendar deadlines and reminders for all matters.

  • Conduct routine legal research, including locating applicable cases, statutes, court rules, and regulations on specific legal issues.

  • Demonstrate respect for client dignity and confidentiality.

  • Prepare legal documents under lawyer supervision, such as drafts of pleadings, motions, and packets.

  • Ensure all deadlines, events, and reminders are properly entered into CRM/Case Management Software, with notifications tagged for the managing attorney.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in using standard office equipment, including telephones, computers, copiers, and fax machines.

  • Strong writing skills to draft legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and packets.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with attorneys and present information clearly.

  • Emotional intelligence to handle clients who may be experiencing emotional distress or trauma.

  • Excellent timekeeping abilities, as accurate time records are crucial for billing and managing the law firm's practice.

  • Demonstrates effective communication, attentive listening, and clear conveyance of points.

  • Ability to adapt to changing workloads and manage tasks accordingly.

  • Must be bilingual in English and Spanish


Administrative Assistant

We're searching for a diligent office assistant to provide administrative support. You’ll be responsible for responding to all complaints and questions in a friendly and timely manner, implementing office standards to streamline our processes, scheduling appointments, and company trips, ordering office equipment, and marketing our brand through community events and print and digital mediums. We are an entrepreneurial immigration and family law firm that is on track for aggressive growth and we need an experienced administrative assistant to join our team and work directly with the owner, clients, staff, and attorneys to support the team and help our clients.

Responsibilities

This position will be responsible for important work, including:

  • Manage the calendar for attorneys and clients;

  • Answer phone calls and emails to act as a liaison between clients and staff members to improve customer retention and referral rates;

  • Manage paperwork provided by and for clients as well as mailing;

  • Plan office events and schedule arrangements for travel if necessary;

  • Purchase office equipment and supplies when appropriate;

  • Coordinate community events to connect with our customer base and raise brand visibility

  • Arrange office services as needed

We love to help people learn and grow. But we don’t have the time for that right now. We need an administrative assistant with experience in customer service. The ideal candidate will be able to take initiative on work that needs to be done and complete tasks with minimal hand-holding.

 This is a full-time job where you are expected to manage your administrative duties, so you absolutely must be able to work in the office for 40 hours per week. There is an opportunity for bonus compensation for those who can demonstrate their profitability.
