Choose one option to see the simplest starting point.
Look for the receipt number on an I-797 or I-797C notice. Enter it only on the official USCIS site.
A short status message may not explain every issue, legal deadline, evidence request, or another agency's case.
Open official USCIS case statusThe official system commonly asks for an A-number. A written hearing notice or order still matters even if the screen looks different.
The system may not show bond matters, every motion, USCIS filings, or all deadlines.
Open official immigration-court informationA Welcome Letter may contain an NVC case number and invoice ID. Use those only on the official CEAC website.
CEAC does not decide whether a visa is available, whether a person is admissible, or when an interview will be scheduled.

A missing result does not prove the person was released, and a result does not explain bond, defenses, hearings, or transfers.

If a person is detained, a hearing is close, or a notice includes a response date, ask for legal review instead of relying only on the status screen.
